THE VISION
Turning New York’s most iconic landmark into a narrative canvas for one of the world's most legendary franchises. The challenge was twofold: adapting 50 years of cinematic archives to the brutal verticality of the building, while meeting the absolute visual standards of Lucasfilm and ILM.
THE EXPERTISE
On this project, reactivity was the critical factor. Working with Superbien, the only studio to have created motion content longer than 60 seconds for this venue, we had only 14 days between asset delivery and the live activation to finess and blend five decades of footage.
Content Optimization: Adapting every scene to specific opacity and colorimetry constraints for a 700-foot-high projection.
Technical Mastery: Managing a complex canvas for 46 Panasonic 30K projectors, leveraging deep knowledge of the monument’s pixel map and server management.Creative Direction: Acting as a responsive interface for Khatsho Orfali (VFX Supervisor at ILM) to translate their vision into a technically viable monumental experience.
THE IMPACT
A first-of-its-kind feat: to this day, this project remains a benchmark for long-format mapping on the Empire State Building. The activation was a resounding success, green-lit by the most demanding creative leads in the film industry.
